Polaris has come a long way since its first All Terrain Vehicle Prototypes in the 1980s. Their first Trail Boss was an industry first with secure floorboards instead of foot pegs and a single lever all-wheel hydraulic braking system. This allowed riders to comfortably position their feet while being able to activate an auxiliary rear brake from the lever located on the rear floorboard. Polaris also pioneered the Polaris On Demand All Wheel Drive system. This ground breaking ATV featured a reliable 250cc 2-stroke engine from their snowmobiles, front and rear ride-smoothing, long travel MacPherson suspension and the Polaris Variable Transmission.
Today's Polaris Variable Transmission has evolved. It now handles more power and torque. The On Demand All Wheel Drive System has evolved to include the addition of a VersaTrac Turf Mode. If you don’t want to tear up your lawn you can switch into VersaTrac mode. This mode will unlock the rear differential and allow reduced steering effort, plus easier and tighter turning.
